Respecting Woman......

Respecting women : We humans treat our pair of eyes, hands and legs equally which enables us a healthy life.  Similarly if we treat our fe/male child as equal pair the world would be a beautiful place to live.

As a girl I would desire for :

Parents who are not eager to know the sex of their unborn child
Parents who are happy to have me as part of their family
Parents who treat me as equal to my brothers: love, care, educate, punish..

Don't:
remind me of being a girl from time to time,
loath me with dos and dont's,
have different set of rules for me and my brothers,
blame me for misfortunes in their life,
and definitely don't treat me as liability.

Give me a sense of integrity with self respect, have confidence in me for who I am, encourage me to achieve my goals in life like my brothers;
Teach me to respect the nature and environment, all living beings: people: rich and poor, irrespective of their colour, religion or gender.

Also make me aware to defend myself when shown disrespect or threatened by anyone;
Ensure I get equal facilities in the world of sports or other activities which I wish to pursue [as you would for my brothers].

Treat me as a women as I grow up, while I am eager to pursue my life in the outside world on my own,

Don't make me accountable for expenses incurred on me, give me my space and most of all Trust me for you mean the world to me.

Leashed by Ownership

Hi,

Sharing few of my thoughts, although people have different opinions on every aspect of life

The recent mass molestation on girls in Bengaluru, India

Was it any different from what happens in the other cities of India? Don't we read daily in our newspapers? every channel has a clipping, discussions, videos on women's abuse as daily 50 updates all over India.

Discussions about Womens rights, dos and don'ts, how they should dress, what time is safe/unsafe for them to walk on streets, who should accompany them, which lanes are safe for them..... and so on

Some companies have introduced safety watches to leash them, (girls), so they can be located by their concerned members by triggering the watch signal, when they feel endangered or should we say fear of being molested,

Each time I see/hear the advertisement, I now know how the dogs feel when leashed by his master to show his ownership.

Is it so difficult to teach our children: boy/girl that it is their right to treat each other with respect and right to their space in this world of humans.  That we all are here to co-exist.

Is the "older generation" never going to give girls/women their due respect, is the women at home to be treated as an object of ownership ? Respected only when obeyed and served to their Master's wishes?

I say "older generation" as they take pride in their culture, traditions and nurture.  Were they not the ones who passed the heritage of culture to the next generations, so what did they miss?  Why we have so many women abuses? Why is it not safe for  women to walk on streets anymore?

While few of the young girls and boys steal their rights to freedom by working in other cities or sneaking away from the eyes of their guardians, they fall prey to the untamed male distorted mindsets.

So when and how will it change?
Who will connect the missing culture of respecting women?
